Atlanta - March 28, 2001 - Lingerie Mart is pleased to announce it has acquired additional warehousing thus increasing actual capacity to over 16,000 sq. feet of usable space. In January, 2001, Lingerie Mart also officially opened the warehouse to the general retail public. "It's great to see the expression on peoples faces when they walk in", she quotes. Atlanta - August 1, 1999 - The internet is for real and Lingerie Mart moves into it's first actual warehouse. The space is approximately 2,000 square feet. There is no heat or air conditioning in the warehouse, but it is dry and secure. As Lingerie Mart grows worldwide on the internet, it quickly realizes even this space is not enough. Peggy Murphy (General Manager) shortly joins Lingerie Mart thereafter, as well as a few various packers. Pictures below show owner Steven Rapp getting products down for customers. This is the first Lingerie Mart warehouse comprising of approximately 2,000 sq feet. We outgrew it 3 months after moving there.
Atlanta - March, 1998 - Lingerie Mart is officially incorporated in the State of Nevada. 100% of the business still handled by owner out his garage. Orders were packed and shipped out of the tiny garage. Space was so crucial that inventory was being stored throughout the entire house and even in his automobile. A showroom at the Atlanta Apparel is opened to handle inquiries from customers and provide a meeting place. Below are some of the early pictures of the Lingerie Mart showroom on the ninth floor of the Atlanta Apparel Mart. It was approximately 100 sq. feet, a far cry from our current facilities.
Atlanta - October 1, 1997 - Founder Steven Rapp single handedly launches www.LingerieMart.com for the very first time using Front Page 97 software on the worldwide Internet. The site received 500 hits the first week, half of which was the owner seeing how many hits the site actually received. (Today, the site receives an average of 25,000 hits per hour.) All merchandise, packing of orders, billing and customer service are handled out of the tiny garage of his home. |
